I’m Garrett.

An entrepreneur and traveler based in sunny Vienna, Austria.

Heyo — I’m Garrett Landers. I’ve spent the last few years slow-traveling across Europe, living in Spain, and saying yes to pretty much every adventure that came my way. I’ve built businesses, burned through mistakes, and figured out how to keep my money in order while exploring 28 countries and still living freely.

Right now, I’m settling into life in Austria, but this site is where I share the real stuff: how to travel smarter, manage money better, and build a life that feels free. If you’re into practical tips, unfiltered travel stories, and making your own rules, you’re in the right place.

When I’m not working on my many projects,

I enjoy hiking

I’m fascinated by the Camino de Santiago and aim to hike all its main routes. So far, I’ve completed the Portuguese Coastal Route and the English Route!

Reading

In 2024, I read over 40 books with my favorite being Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty.

Traveling

As you might have guessed, I love to travel. One of my favorite trips was an 11 day roadtrip through Morocco.

A Little Bit More About Me:

Curious what makes me tick? Here, you’ll find a bit about my story, goals, and what keeps me moving forward.

Some people have a straightforward life path—graduate, get a job, buy a house, settle down. Not me. Instead, I decided to collect passport stamps like Pokémon cards, hop from country to country, and try my hand at everything from building a landscaping business to trying to sell real estate in a foreign language, all while convincing myself that sleeping in questionable hostels is a “cultural experience.”

I’ve lived in the USA, Canada, and Spain, and now I’m gearing up for my next chapter: moving to Austria. Because, you know, why settle in one place when you can keep uprooting your life for fun? Along the way, I’ve managed to win thousands of dollars from public speaking (yes, talking a lot finally paid off).

Also, I’ve fractured my back in middle school (would not recommend), and accumulated more concussions than I can count (which, let’s be real, might be a side effect of the concussions). Despite all that, I’m still standing, still traveling, and still making life as interesting as possible.

I believe life isn’t about having everything perfectly planned—it’s about taking opportunities, adapting, and seeing where things lead. I’d rather take a chance on something interesting than sit around wondering what if?

I value experiences over things and time over money—but let’s be real, financial freedom is what makes that flexibility possible. To me, real freedom means having the ability to choose how I spend my time, without being tied down by financial stress. That’s the goal.

Mistakes will happen, plans will change, and that’s fine. As long as I’m moving forward (or at least sideways in an interesting way), I’m on the right track.

Let’s be real—everything else in my life is secondary to my dogs. Travel? Cool, but not as cool as a tail wag. Financial independence? Great, but can it compare to the pure joy of belly rubs? I think not. These four-legged rulers of my universe dictate my schedule, my furniture choices, and probably my personality at this point. I don’t know what life would be without them, and honestly, I don’t want to know.

1. Move to Vienna, Get a Job, and Pretend I Have My Life Together
Moving to a new country is exciting… and a logistical headache. The goal is to get through the process smoothly, find work, and start building a life in Vienna.

2. Earn at Least $1 from My Own Business
Everyone has to start somewhere. If I can make even a small amount of income from a business, that’s proof I’m on the right track.

3. Reach A2 in German (So Locals Stop Switching to English Immediately)
I dream of a world where I order a coffee in German, and the barista doesn’t immediately sigh and respond in English. A2 might not get me there, but at least I’ll understand when they judge me.

4. Be Able to Touch My Toes Without Feeling Like an Old Man
Somewhere along the way, my flexibility vanished. One day, I will bend over without feeling like my hamstrings are about to file a complaint. One day.
